Northeast Library in Wilmington, NC, presents folklorist Dr. William Ferris, who will show footage from interviews he conducted with famous Southerners over the past 40 years. Pete Seeger, Eudora Welty, and Alice Walker are among the 26 interview subjects in his latest book, The Storied South: Voices of Writers and Artists, which will be for sale. Dr. Ferris is the former head of the National Endowment of the Humanities, and currently a professor at UNC Chapel Hill and the Senior Associate Director of the Center for the Study of the American South. Also included in this program is a performance of Southern blues music with The Whitley Brothers (Clyde Edgerton and John Sullivan).
