The Historic Wilmington Foundation presents Guided Walking Tours of Forest Hills and the Streetcar Suburbs, a chance to discover the Port City's rich past through architectural, social, and cultural history of the two neighborhoods. The Streetcar Suburbs tells the story of Wilmington’s first two suburbs, Carolina Place and Carolina Heights, and their restoration and renewal. Forest Hills developed outside the city limits and it was the first automobile oriented suburb. Tours last approximately 1.5 hours.
Please note: Tour of Carolina Heights and Carolina Place meets at Temple Baptist Church (1801 Market Street). Tour of Forest Hills meets at Forest Hills Elementary School (602 Colonial Drive).
