The World War II Experience at Fort Fisher State Historic Site in Kure Beach commemorates the history of the fort as an antiaircraft training base during the Second World War, where a large number of American servicemen and women lived and trained during the 1940s. The event features military and civilian re-enactors portraying what life was like for a World War II soldier at the base and on the home front. The program also includes presentations by three historians -- Wilbur Jones, Cliff Tyndall, and Krystal Lee -- at 10am, noon, and 2pm, respectively.
