The Fort Fisher State Historic Site presents Fort Fisher and North Carolina's WWII Experience. The event explores Fort Fisher’s role as a Training facility during World War II and features re-enactors discussing historic weapons, the life of the soldier, as well as family life on the homefront. The program also highlights the Women’s Airforce Services Pilots (WASP) program, and the critical role they played in the march toward victory. Guest speakers will discuss World War II topics in the air conditioned theater. Other activities include jeep rides in a 1942 Willys jeep (small donation requested) and a Toy Soldier Workshop for kids.
