Description:
Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington NC hosts an Open House and Reception for its Connections program, an opportunity for the community to meet Connections staff and volunteers, take part in a tour, see demonstrations of new hands-on activities for dementia participants and caregivers and enjoy refreshments together. Cameron Art Museum’s Connections program began in 2006 and provides ongoing support of Alzheimer’s participants and their caregivers through specialized, docent-led tours of the museum’s exhibitions. Georgia Mastroieni, Curator of Education at the Cameron Art Museum, is the program developer. Through a recently awarded $5,000 grant from Champion McDowell Davis Charitable Foundation, the focus of Connections programming is expanding to include hands-on artwork that the participants can create and take with them following their tour of the galleries. HOURS: 2-5pm.
